The Center for Regional Economic Development (CRED) celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. CRED was founded in 2012 to strengthen the national and international position of the University of Bern on interdisciplinary issues of regional development in research and teaching. The former Research Institute for Leisure and Tourism and the departments of Economics, Economic Geography and Entrepreneurship joined forces to bundle the competences of the University of Bern in one centre. Today, CRED members work in particular on topics in the following three main research areas: Location Dynamics and Regional Economic Policy, Tourism, Land Use Policy and Real Estate. In recent years, CRED has been able to teach many students in the Master in Applied Economics Analysis and the specialisation Regional Economic Development. Former CRED team members (PhDs and postdocs) are still in academia today, for example as assistant professors, or contribute their regional economic expertise in business and public administration. In the context of the anniversary, CRED will organise an alumni event as well as various other events for target groups from science, business and public administration. We look forward to a lively exchange with our partners and interested parties. Further information and the possibility to register for events, please see below.
